Tom is particularly adept at applying his broad functional experiences and perspectives to help businesses create, market, and implement first-of-a-kind solutions. For a top 5 US food retailer, he led a cross-functional team to implement the first-ever, large scale category management solution, resulting in +$87M year-one profits; the solution was employed for another 18 years. Led first-ever implementation of “customer yield management” solution for a $38B retailer. Identified a $350M ARR opportunity then designed and led prototyping of a repurposed mobile-first ag tech solution for food waste recovery. Adapted a platform for computing agricultural evapotranspiration, water budgeting and nutrient applications to support suppliers, growers, and regulators across a $50B economic zone. Adapted a general-purpose analytic search engine to detect obscure, store-specific sales trends, enabling regional sales teams to pre-empt sales declines. Tom has also led solution strategy to repurpose the then-leading public e-Commerce Marketplace technology to create private e-Marketplaces for multi-national corporations. Turn-Around & Strategic Revenue Growth.
Tom has led, developed, and coached sales, service, customer support and/or channel partner teams to surpass revenue targets, to turn failing client engagements into profit generators, and to turn around failing solutions for initial traction and growth. For a global syndicated data research company, his team grew established product sales at 45% CAGR over 5 years. For a start-up CRM SaaS provider, he built a remote team to turn-around company’s floundering first client, stabilizing relations and generating first profits within 18 months. For a mobile sales application company, identified root causes of a failing product initiative, and designed, delivered, and operationalized the company’s first-ever “predictive retail execution” solution, and validated a move from user-based to value-based pricing, improving the company’s pre-M&A enterprise value.
